A Little Background On North Charlottesville
|
|
|
North of the University of Virginia and adjacent to it is “The Corner” a combination of restaurants,
bars, stores, and specialty boutiques off University Avenue. The Corner is trendy and a popular hangout
for UVA students and residents. Further north along Emmet Street you will find a plethora of places,
including the John Paul Jones Arena, trendy strip-malls, boutiques, restaurants, and eateries such as
Barracks Road Shopping Center. This area is rich in shopping, large clothing outlets like Old Navy
and Talbots, bookstores such as Barnes & Noble, specialty stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond and Grocery
Stores which include Harris Teeter and Kroger. Here you will also find movie rentals, car washes,
restaurants, fast-food, grocery stores, specialty boutiques, dry cleaners, banks and many, many others.
As you head further north of Barracks Road Shopping Center on 29 you’ll find large department stores
such as Best Buy, Home Depot, Kmart, Target & Wal-Mart.
The real estate north of UVA is made up of student housing rentals, condos, townhouses, and homes.
Nearer the University such as on Barracks Road, Preston Ave, Grady Avenue and Rugby Road you will find
very stately and beautiful urban style homes, townhomes and condos that fan out north away from the
