A Little Background On East Charlottesville
|
|
|
East of the University of Virginia is Downtown Charlottesville, also known as the Downtown Mall.
This is a very popular hangout for Charlottesville residents. You’ll find the Downtown Mall by
heading east from UVA down Main Street; it’s about an 8 city block walk, that many students do every
day. The Downtown Mall is actually an open air area that has been blocked off from traffic and is
lined with wall-to-wall restaurants, coffee shops, eateries, specialty stores, night clubs, bars,
theaters, office space, art galleries and live music venues. The Charlottesville train station and
bus station are East of UVA and between UVA and downtown. The downtown area is a major congregation
area for the locals, and has much to offer anyone looking to tap into the true culture of
Charlottesville. Also east of the University you will find several parks, including a public skateboard
park as well as two more public golf courses.
The real estate east of UVA is made up of student housing, condos, townhomes, and homes. There are
many areas that are being revived or have been renovated this decade. You will also find many forms
of residential abodes, and warehouses and other building that have been converted into housing.
Besides row houses, and condo conversions, there are also many apartment style facilities for renters.
